In accordance with Underwriting guidelines, the system does not allow users to change the policy effective date during a renewal. To update the effective date, a Cancel/Rewrite is required. Follow the steps below:

  1. Review the renewal status

    • If the renewal has not yet been issued, complete the renewal using the current effective dates.
    • If the policy has already expired or has been canceled, skip to Step 3 to create a rewrite.
  2. Cancel the renewal term

    • Once the renewal transaction is complete, immediately cancel the renewal term.
    • Select Policy Rewritten as the cancellation reason.
  3. Create the rewrite

    • Select the Rewrite button to initiate the rewrite transaction.
  4. Enter new effective dates

    • In the Rewrite module, you will be prompted to enter a new effective date.
    • Update the dates as needed and complete the transaction.
